Good news from European Union – Open Source project

Filed under: English, News & Bolts, eLiberatica & ROSI — Lucian Savluc @ 12:41 am

A message I forward from European Union, related to Open Source:

Dear FLOSS Experts and Users,

As some may have heard, the IDABC Programme for European eGovernment services launched on 18 June 2008 the Open Source Observatory and Repository (www.OSOR.EU). This action continues the IDA and IDABC activities for the promotion of FLOSS in public administrations: http://ec.europa.eu/idabc/en/chapter/452 . The objective is to provide a platform where information, experiences and code can be exchanged across borders and institutions. The enclosed flyer provides further explanations.

We invite you to visit the OSOR, its information platform, its forge and repository. The OSOR collaborates with European OSS repositories and forges, is welcoming new projects, and is currently fine-tuning requirements with specific user communities built around topics that are likely to become important on a pan-European platform such as OSOR - the GIS community being the first one.

For those who have followed the project from the start, thank you for your patience.

You are now welcome to join the OSOR User Group, supported by the functionalities of the “USER GROUP” project on the OSOR (mailing list, forum, documentation…):

Please feel free to forward this invitation to whom you think it may concern.

Looking forward to discussing about the OSOR,

Kind regards,

Clementine
